We LOVE when Farmers Market season begins. Nothing beats buying fresh, local products straight from the source! On Saturday mornings, we usually do some shopping for the week wherever we have our booth. And that's just what we did at Opening Day at the Apex Farmers Market last Saturday.
We came home with a few pounds of fresh ground beef from Heston Farms, delicious organically raised greens from Nourishing Acres, Heavenly Beezzz Local Raw Wildflower Honey, fresh homemade mozzarella from Piemonte Farm, freshly baked bread from Great Harvest Bread Co, and Mr. Russell's Brie Soup. We actually bought more (including two chickens, fresh farm eggs, bratwurst, etc), but that will be another day and another post. We threw in a bottle of our own Tequila Dale's WOW Sauce and we knew we had an amazing meal for Saturday night.
We started with a delicious warm bowl of Brie Soup, while our burgers were grilling on the grill. We sautéed up some onions with our Tequila Dale's sauce, sliced up a few pickles for a topping. Once the burgers were grilled, we added a slice of mozzarella and toasted up a few slices of the fresh bread and... we were rewarded with the MOST amazing burgers. As a side, we had fresh greens with homemade wildflower honey balsamic vinaigrette. And folks, THIS is what eating local is all about! Bring on Summer 2015!
